Recently extended to meet the increasing wild animals’ habitat this area is by far the largest area in the Terai left virgin and unexplored. In 1988, this nature reserve got a status of national park, since then people have been taking this reserve as a competitor to Chitwan. So far this park is regarded to be the best place in Nepal to see Royal Bengal Tiger, Nilgai, Gangetic Dolphin & Others. Here lies also the mighty Karnali River that is one of the biggest river of Nepal and Best River for fishing. Karnali river is the western boundary for the park and is renowned for its aquatic wildlife having also the rare Ghariyal and Marsh Muggar Crocodile.
