Itinerary
Day 01 – Arrive Kathmandu, rest of the day at leisure, overnight at Hotel.
Day 02 – Full day sightseeing of Kathmandu, Swoyambu Nath & Patan.
Day 03 – Kathmandu to Pokhara to Dhampus (1787m.)
Early morning you will fly to Pokhara from Kathmandu. Pokhara is beautiful lakeside town. Upon your arrival you will drive for 30m. through the Tibetan refugee camp, the village of Brahmins & Chhetries, The ends at Dhampus Phedi from where the trek begins. Before you leave for trek you will have lunch at nearby at Yamdi Khola. Lunch is usually long & relaxing affair through out your trip, which gives you ample amount of time to write dairy, washing, exploring around the area or simply stretch your legs and enjoy the atmosphere. Right after the stair way for 45 mts. to the Dhampus Danda. The trail continues upto the ridge for another couple of hours to the camping spot, in the upper Gurung village of Dhampas. This is your first camping spot with dramatic view of Annapurna south (7219m.), Hinchuli (6441m.), Machhapuchre (6993m.), Annapurna III (7555m.) & IV (7525m.). So take time to enjoy the magnificence.
Day 04 – Dhampus to Ghandrung
As you wake up in the morning and peep through your tent, you see the breathtaking view the Annapurna range. The Fishtail Mt. is right in front of you. The wonderful spot for picture taking. After your breakfast you walk about an hour to reach the top of Dhampus ridge called Pothana from where the mountain re-appears. From Pothana you move along the ridge through the village of Bhichuk and Berikharka. Descending steadily through the forest of tropical trees, feen, shrubs, you come across a stream where you might have a lunch break. The afternoon takes you down through the forest and small villages to Landrung. Along the way you pass by schools, people tending their stocks, working in the filed, presenting an opportunity to become acquainted with village life.
We go over the Modi Khola suspension bridge and then ascend above Modi valley along terraces, coming to our first encounter with stone stairs as we climb up to Ghandrung. Ghandrung is a large and prosperous Gurung village and is home to many of the Gurkha shoulders. Its also first regional headquarters for the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).
Day 05 – Ghandrung to Chomrong
Beyond the Ghandrung village, you trek through the spare forest to Kimru Khola. From Khimru Khola the trail ascends through the scattered villages and descends to the village of Chomrong, the last settlement of the Annapurna Sanctuary. It takes about four hours from Ghandrung to Chomrang.
Day 06 – Chomrong to Hinko Cave
Chomraong to Hinko Cave (3000m.)
The trail, all the way from Chomrong to the Annapurna Base Camp is quite interesting and challenging. As you cross the Chomrong Khola, the trail ascends up gradually along the west bank of the Modi Khola, through the thick Bamboo and Rhododendron forest to Kuldi. Walking through the clumps of Bamboo and shrubs brings you to the campsite at Hinko cave where a big overhanging rock is.
Day 07 – Hinko Cave to Machhapuchre Base Camp (3939m.)
The valley widens up further to the Sanctuary gate and the trails gets less narrow. The forest disappears and gives way to rocky hard ground. Continuing the trail you reach a place called Bhaati, Hut, highest camp of the trip. Another an hour & half from the Bhatti you reach Machhapuchre Base Camp.
Day 08 – Layover day at the Base Camp (3939m.)
A layover day here provides you the opportunity to walk up the Annapurna Base Camp and explore the amazing peaks and glaciers. Walk back to the camp for lunch.
Day 09 – Machhapuchre Base Camp to Bamboo Hotel
You retrace your walk back to Bamboo Hotel, passing Hinko.
Day 10 – Bamboo Hotel to Kyummu Khola
Return to Kyimmu Khola after having lunch at Chhomrong.
Day 11 – Kyummu Khola to Deurali (2606m.)
Crossing the Kyummu Khola, the tributary of Modi Khola the trail climbs through the dense rhododendron and oak forest to Banthanti in two and half hours. Having lunch here the trail descends to Deurali for another two hours. Along the trail from Kyummu Khola to Deurali you have very good views to Annapurna South (7219m.) and Fishtail (6993m) at close distance.
Day 12 – Deurali to Ghorepani (2853m.)
Today again it is steady climb through the dense forest. You head up to the open ridge, 3030m. and get magnificent views of giant peaks of north west and Kaligandaki valley, the deepest gorge in the world. From the same ridge you descend to Ghorepani where you will encounter more travelers, both locals and westerners. While you are at Ghorepani you can walk up to the Pun hill to enjoy the entire Dhaulagiri Range.
Day 13 – Ghorepani to Birethanti (1030m.)
Today you will be descending for about six hours to Birethanti. The heads southeast through the evergreen forest and terraces around the large Nagage village of Ulleri, which sits above the Bhurnagai Khola. From here the trail drops steeply to the river where you will have lunch. Right below the lunch spot is an excellent swimming spot –if-you are willing to dare the cold water.
Day 14 – Birethanti to Pokhara
After the morning breakfast you will be walking for 45 mts. along the left-hand side of the Modi Khola to a place called Naya Pul. This will be your last trekking point. At Naya Pul you will meet our vehicle and drive for 1.30 minutes. Back to Pokhara. While driving you pass through the most scenic places like Lumle, Kanre and Naudanda. Lumle is famous for its Agricultural Training Centre established by the British Gurkha mission for the welfare of Ex-Gurkhas Soldiers. You will be back to the hotel for lunch. Rest of the day is free or you can take tour around Pokhara.
Day 15 – Fly Pokhara/ Kathmandu, overnight at Hotel.
Day 16 – Full day sightseeing of Bhaktapur, Pashupati and Boudha.
Day 17 – Transfer to the airport for the final departure.
