Overview
Delhi - Guwahati – Nameri – Eaglenest – Kaziranga – Guwahati – Delhi
The recently discovered Bugun Liocichla along with a long list of endemic and near endemic species and an expected total list of around 350+ species means the intrepid birder will not disappointed! Bugun Liocichla, Beautiful Nuthatch, Rufous-necked and Wreathed Hornbills, Fire-tailed Myzornis, Ward’s Trogon, Himalayan Monal, Temminck’s Tragopan, up to six species of Parrotbill, Pied Harrier, Bengal Florican and Blue-naped Pitta are just a few of the species that can be encountered on the tour.

Itinerary Detail
Day 01: Arrive Delhi – Guwahati - Nameri
Meals: Lunch Dinner
Arrive Delhi International Airport. From here you will be transferred to the Delhi domestic airport for a flight to Guwahati (Flight No S2-391 departure from 0955 Hrs). Arrive Guwahati at 1205 hrs. You will meet your guide at the airport and will be driven to Nameri Eco Camp. Night at the camp.
Day 02: Nameri
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Nameri is a scenic sanctuary on the border of the Assam Valley and mountainous Arunachal Pradesh. Here you can see the endangered White-winged Duck, Wreathed Hornbill, Ibisbill, Blue-bearded Bee-eater, Long-tailed Broadbill and Green Cochoa to name a few species. In the afternoon explore the area of the River Jai Bhoroli by raft (NOTE – it seems like they do want to keep the rafting in).
Day 03: Nameri – Dirang – Sangti Valley
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
In the morning drive 190 km (7hrs) to Dirang (1500m), birding enroute. In Sangti Valley areas one can see Black-necked Crane (Nov-Feb inc.) and Black-tailed Crake etc.
Spend the evening birding in Sangti Valley, returning to Hotel Pemaling, Dirang for the night. Night at Hotel Pemaling.
Day 04: Dirang – Sela Pass
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Drive (2 ½ hrs) to Sela Pass (at 4500m) for a full days birding returning to Dirang for overnight stay. and Grandala, Himalayan Monal, Snow Partridge and many other high altitude species are possible. Return to Hotel Pemaling for the night.
Day 05: Dirang – Mandala Ridge - Dirang
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Full day birding in the Mandala Ridge area. Return to Hotel Pemaling.
Day 06: Dirang to Lama Camp (Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary)
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Birding drive to Lama Camp (at 2350m) where the Bugun Liocichla was recently discovered. A wide range of species can be seen at and around the camp including Long-tailed Thrush, Red-headed and Grey-headed Bullfinches and Green Shrike-Babbler. The next few nights will be in fully serviced camps.
Day 07: Lama Camp
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Enjoy a birding trek to Top ridge returning to fully serviced camp at Lama Camp. Note: The extra night was added here and it is hoped that if weather or birding dictates, the night might be able to be shifted if need be to one of the lower camps. You will have to discuss this with Peter at the time.
Day 08: Lama Camp to Sunderview
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 09: Sunderview to Eaglenest Pass
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Birding trek to around Top Ridge with another night at the fully serviced camp.
Day 10: Sunderview to Bompu
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
full day birding trek to Bompu (at 1940m). Night at camp. Species at Bompu include Blyth’s Tragopan, Hill and Chestnut-breasted Partridges, Golden, White-browed and Rufous-breasted Bush-robins, Purple Cochoa various Wren-babblers and Parrotbills.
Day 11: Bompu to Sessni
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Full day birding trek to Sessni returning to camp.
Day 12: Sessni
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Trek around Sessni in the morning and travel back to Dirang or Nameri for overnight stay. Currently we cannot exit towards Guwahati as there has been a landslide, though this situation might change. This drive will take about 7-8 hours
Day 13: Sessni to Kaziranga
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
We will leave for Kaziranga (3 hours if we stay at Nameri and longer if accommodation has to be elsewhere) today after a bit of morning birding.
Day 14 & 15 & Day 16: Kaziranga
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Spend the two days birding around Kaziranga for Bengal Florican, Swamp Francolin, Spot-billed Pelican, Greater Adjutant, Pallas’ Fish-eagle and Blue-naped Pitta. A fine list of mammals also occurs, including Indian One-horned Rhino, Asian Elephant, Asiatic Water Buffalo, Swamp Deer and Hoolock Gibbon.
Day 17: Kaziranga to Guwahati to Delhi
Meals: Breakfast and lunch
If flight times permit, enjoy a final few hours birding around Kaziranga before driving back to Guwahati for an internal flight back to Delhi. You will be taken to Hotel Sunstar or similar for the night.
Day 18: Delhi
Meals: On own
Transfers to Delhi international airport.
